According to Reuters, at least 50 people died in the last 24 hours in Ghor province of western Afghanistan, while 10 others are missing. Mawlawi Abdul Hai Zaeem, head of the information department, told Reuters there was no information on how many people were injured due to the rains that started on Friday. Many major roads of the area were also cut off.

Ghor Governor Abdul Wahid Hamas spokesman said seven other people died in Ghor during flash floods that hit the province and other areas of Afghanistan on 10 May. Heavy rain and flooding also blocked roads into Ghor’s neighboring provinces of Herat and Farah.

A helicopter also crashed

A helicopter used by the Afghan Air Force crashed due to technical problems while attempting to retrieve bodies of people who had fallen into a river in Ghor province on Wednesday, the country’s Defense Ministry said, killing one person. and 12 people were injured.

There has been heavy rain in Afghanistan since last month and there is a continuous flood situation, due to which there has been loss of life and property.
